Video and Sound Production - Exercises

LECTURES
Week 1: [holiday]

Week 2: We had a lecture on composition in cinematography. We learned about close shots, wide shots, over the shoulder shots, middle shot and many more.

Week 3: We had a lecture on storytelling in film where we learned about story and plots in a story. There are 3 acts, the beginning which is the set up of the story which introduces the characters, middle where there is confrontation to the story and the end where there is the resolution.

Week 4: We had a lecture on different people who work on a filming production together and their roles then we got into groups of 3 to divide the roles between us to film a few scenes from the short film, Lalin.

WORK
Week 4
This week we were to learn how to take photos using different angles and shots that are used in cinematography. For this exercise we borrowed a photogenic friend to be our model.

Week 5
This week was the week we were to film our shots to remake a short film called Lalin

Week 6
This week we were shown the short film, l'accordeur and we have to separate the short film into 3 acts.

ACT 1
The main character used to play for the public to get an award for his piano playing but then he failed and his life started crumbling into shatters.

Plot Point 1
He becomes a blind piano tuner.

ACT 2
He tunes his clients' pianos and they're usually happy with it.

Plot Point 2
He goes to this old lady's house to tune her piano and insisted to get into her house to tune the piano.

CLIMAX
He finds out the old lady killed her husband

ACT 3
He keeps playing the piano until he is killed by the old lady.

The story goes as Daedalus helps the princess run away and the king gets mad so the throws Daedalus into the dungeon tower so I had drawn some thumbnails just to show a brief idea of what will happen but then I had changed the composition while drawing these digitally to make the story more interesting. 7/1/2019 - 22/2/2019 (Week 1 - Week 7) Ng Shu Zhi 0327158 Intercultural Design PROJECT 1 : PROPOSAL INSTRUCTIONS WORK When we were first introduced to this project and the location for our data collection, we chose to do some research about the places we were going to go to to get an idea of what we could focus on while we were in Korea and where we may find some of the items. Then we researched on some things in Korea which we could focus on while we were at Korea. Then after some consultation we realised that collecting data isn't just collecting physical data like objects in Korea so we changed our idea and thought about focusing on environmental data based on the hypothesis we had made. Here is our proposal slides. REFLECTION Doing the proposal about a place which I'm not familiar with is quite difficult. I'm not very familiar with the culture like their mannerism but I was familiar with their modern culture as I liked watching Korean vlog

30/8/2018 - 11/10/2018  (Week 1 - Week 7 ) Ng Shu Zhi (0327158) Interactive Design - Exercises LECTURES Week 1: For the first week we were given an introduction to the module, explaining the programs we will need and the types of work we will be doing. Week 2: We had an exercise looking for 6 good and bad web pages designs then we were to explain the parts we thought were good and bad in the designs. Week 3: We had a lecture on UI and UX, what's the difference, Common characteristics of a well designed web page will depend on the user of the web and Golden rules of Interactive Design, then we were given an exercise to do where we designed a low fidelity tester navigation kiosk for Taylor's University. Week 4: We had a lecture on typography in web design, the history of it and web safe fonts. Usually people now use google fonts to design their web page since everyone can access it.
